Essex County OPP arrested two impaired drivers this past weekend, both after having been involved in accidents.

The first around 2:20am on April 17, 2016. OPP officers in Tecumseh received a report of a single motor vehicle crash in front of a residence in the 6700 block of Holden Road.

A grey Lexus had been travelling southbound on Holden Road and left the roadway and struck a concrete culvert. The driver was not injured but exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested at the scene.

Nectarios Kouvalis, age 40 of Amherstburg, was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and exceed 80 milligrams blood alcohol content. He will appear in a Windsor court on May 4th, 2016.

Also on April 17th, 2016 around 3:35am, OPP officers in Lakeshore received a call regarding a red Ford which had run a stop sign and struck a residence on Eleventh Street in Belle River. The male driver exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested.

Bradley Lebert, age 37 of Lakeshore was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and exceed 80 milligrams blood alcohol content. He will appear in a Windsor court on May 4th, 2016 to answer to the charges.

“For those drivers who continue to drive impaired on our highways, roadways and trails, I can assure you that not only are the OPP looking for you but also members of your community. Driving is a privilege but today that opportunity may be taken away from you, with only you to blame. Is the driver of the vehicle approaching you or following you impaired by alcohol or drugs? Let’s hope not but once again over the past few days, Essex County OPP has arrested two such drivers. These are unacceptable statistics,” said Essex County OPP Detachment Commander Inspector Glenn Miller.
