Police say another animal most likely caused serious injuries to a dog that was attacked in a back yard and had to be put down on Wednesday.

Windsor Police were dispatched Wednesday evening to a residence in the 5500 block of Lassaline Avenue for a seriously injured dog that had to be euthanized.

Officers spoke to the owner and learned that at approximately 5:30pm she let out her black poodle into the backyard and put him on a leash.

A short time later the owner heard a concerning yelp from the dog so she went outside to check on him and found him suffering from serious injuries.

The dog was taken to a Veterinary hospital and had to be euthanized due to the extent of the injuries.

Police say a necropsy was completed on the dog and results show that the injuries were almost certainly inflicted by another larger animal, most likely a dog.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Windsor Police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4305, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS), or online at www.catchcrooks.com.
