An online petition has been launched to stop the pending name change to W.F Herman Secondary School.
In the fall, the school will be amalgamating with Percy P. McCallum Public School to create a K to 12 school.
Last week the board announced that it was accepting ideas and suggestions to rename the new school.
The online petition states that “we believe that the word Secondary could be removed however given the history, tradition and name recognition of W.F. Herman, the name W.F Herman must remain and be incorporated into a new name.”
As of 1pm Monday, the petition had 1,420 supporters. You can find it online here.
