A Chatham man has been charged after he allegedly tried to buy fish and a fish tank with fake pot.

Police say that on January 30, 2016 a 12-year-old boy attended the man’s residence to sell him a fish as well as get the money for a fish tank that the man had yet to pay for.

The man tried to pay the youth with a bag of marijuana. The youth inspected the bag and realized it was oregano.

The youth confronted the man and as a result, the man struck him in the head. The boy did not require medical attention.

Sunday afternoon, police located the man and he was arrested. James DeWolfe, 29 years, of Pearl Crescent in Chatham has been charged with assault.

He was released pending a future court date of February 16, 2016.
