Windsor Endowment For The Arts Invites Nominations And Applications For 2016 Awards And Grants

The Windsor Endowment for the Arts is seeking nominations and applications for its 2016 Arts Leadership Awards and Grants.

The awards and grants recognize and promote excellence among the local arts and cultural communities, and showcase the extraordinary contributions our local individuals, organizations, practicing and emerging artists make to the social fabric, and cultural and economic development of our region.

Arts Leadership Awards are awards of merit that recognize and celebrate outstanding individuals, philanthropists, businesses and/or organizations who have demonstrated leadership, excellence and/or long-standing contributions to the arts in Windsor and Essex County. There are four levels of recognition, namely Community Arts, Literary Arts, Performing Arts and Visual Arts.

The Arts Grants recognize and encourage significant artistic and cultural contributions by individuals, organizations, and arts projects in Windsor and Essex County.

Grant categories include:

Arts Infrastructure:
Four grants, of $2,000 each, are presented to individuals, businesses or organizations dedicated to developing the arts in the following areas: Community Arts, Literary Arts, Performing Arts and Visual Arts.

Emerging Artists:
Four grants, of $2,000 each, are presented to support the professional and creative development of emerging artists in the following areas: Community Arts, Literary Arts, Performing Arts, and Visual Arts.

Elizabeth Havelock Grant:
One grant is presented to foster and support the artistic excellence of the mid-career artist in any artistic discipline.

“The Awards and Grants celebrate the plethora of cultural and artistic talent in Windsor-Essex, and recognize the contributions and achievements of those who have strengthened our creative community,” said WEA’s President Carolyne Rourke.

Nominations will be accepted until March 4th, 2016 and application forms can be downloaded at www.wea-arts.com.

Awards and grants will be presented at The WEA’s and The Mayor of Windsor’s Arts Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 12th, 2016.
