Windsorites helped to catch a break and enter suspect Wednesday.

Police say that around 10:45pm on Wednesday the complainant was visiting a friend when he allegedly encountered an unknown male suspect inside his friend’s apartment in the 400 block of Wyandotte Street East.

After a short conversation he realized that the suspect had just broke into his friends apartment. The suspect allegedly threatened the complainant and fled the area on his bicycle.

The complainant alerted another resident in the building came to assist in the apprehension. The two men caught up to the suspect and tried to apprehend him.

The suspect allegedly held out a knife toward the two men but they disarmed the male. The suspect then managed to flee away again on his bicycle and they continued to chase after him.

Windsor Police officers arrived and found the two men chasing the suspect and pointing him out to officers. Officers engaged in a foot chase and the suspect dropped his bicycle and continued running between yards. Officers caught up to the suspect and subsequently placed him under arrest in the 700 block of Bruce Avenue. Officers also located stolen property from the apartment that was broken into in the suspects back pack.

Gladson Chinyangwa, a 24-year-old from Windsor is charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property, two counts of assault with a weapon and two counts of uttering threats.
