Windsor Police have released a dashcam video of Wednesday’s drive-by shooting that nearly cost an innocent man his life.

The video shows shots being fired from a green Toyota to a black Jaguar. Both vehicles fled the area.

Upon arrival in the area, police found a red Nissan facing Northbound on Howard Avenue just South of Erie Street. The vehicle had fresh damage to the windshield.

Police spoke with the 31-year-old driver of the vehicle and learned that the Nissan was North on Howard Avenue approaching Erie Street.

Police say the Nissan was passed by a green Toyota, and as the vehicle passed, a male passenger extended his arm out of the vehicle and fired a handgun at the Jaguar that was in front of the Nissan.

The driver of the Nissan told police that he had a dashboard camera that may have captured the incident.

The shooter is visible in the video footage.

The suspect was seen firing at the driver side of the Jaguar and police say it appears that one of the rounds ricocheted off the Jaguar and struck the windshield of the Nissan. The projectile travelled through the windshield, the driver’s shirt collar, and then into the driver’s seat.

After the shooting, the Jaguar was seen chasing after the Toyota.

Police say it is fortunate that the driver only sustained very minor injuries from glass fragments as the projectile went through the windshield.

Police are asking anyone with information to call.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Windsor Police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4211 or 4208, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS), online at www.catchcrooks.com.
