Windsor Police are investigating an assault.

Police say that around 11:30pm Thursday, a 48-year-old female was walking westbound on University Avenue near Elm Avenue when a vehicle pulled up next to her. They exchanged words with each other and the suspect male drove away.

The victim continued walking and turned around and observed the suspect male now approaching her on foot from behind. At some point the male allegedly struck her in the face with a sharp object causing a serious but not life threatening laceration. She fell to the ground and the suspect ran northbound from the area.

The victim then attended the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male 5’6-5’7, with an average build. He was approximately 25 years old, and had a 4-5 inch ponytail. He was wearing a black baseball hat, white t-shirt and jeans.

The vehicle is described as a newer model black vehicle with blue dashboard lights.
