A lightning strike gets the blame for destroying a home under construction in Essex.

Essex Fire and Rescue were called to the home on County Road 15 around 2am.

It took crews from both stations about an hour to bring it under control.

Damage is estimated at $100,000.

There are no reports of injuries.
