An early morning fire on Tecumseh Road East is out.

Fire crews were called to the building just beofre 4am and found heavy smoke and fire on the second floor and into the attic.

After a few minutes on scene all firefighters were pulled from the building for safety and it was fought with aerial and hand lines from the outside.

Part of he buildings roof has collapsed.

The fire was brought under control around 5:30am, and declared out an hour later.

Investigators say that the fire started in a void space in the attic, but the exact cause is undetermined but may be electrical.

Damage is set at $250,000.
