Police have arrested a man after three break and enters in Pillette Village.

On Tuesday just before 6am, police officers responded to a commercial alarm at Gia Nails at 4781 Wyandotte Street East and The Bird’s Den at 4783 Wyandotte Street East.

Arriving officers discovered that the front door’s locking mechanism had been tampered with. Police learned that a small quantity of cash was taken from each business.

Police checking neighbouring businesses discovered damage to the door lock of Pizza Plus located in the 4600 block of Wyandotte Street East.

Officers discovered that the cash register had been removed. A witness contacted police and advised that they observed a suspicious vehicle in the 1000 block of Raymo.

The vehicle was stopped and the driver had removed a cash register and various papers from the trunk. Police attended the location on Raymo and recovered the cash register and were able to confirm it was the one taken from the Pizza Plus break in.

Officers ran the vehicle information and were provided with the name of a potential suspect. Officers familiar with the suspect viewed video from the Pizza Plus break and enter and were able to confirm his identity.

Police ran the suspect and learned that he had an arrest warrant on file in relation to a previous Break and Enter investigation in the 1100 block of Wyandotte Street East.

Later that morning police found the suspect in the yard of a residence located in the 700 block of Lincoln Road. He was arrested.

Peter Aston, 49 years of age from Windsor is charged with 4 counts of Break and Enter.

Police are continuing to investigate several other commercial break and enters in the Walkerville area. It’s not known at this time if the Pillette Village crimes are connected to the Walkerville break and enters.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Windsor Police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4350, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS), online at www.catchcrooks.com.
