An alleged drunk driver has been charged after two county crashes.

OPP say that they first report of a possible impaired driver on July 12th, 2015 around 6:30pm.

Police were told of a beige Chevrolet SUV that had just been involved in a collision in Amherstburg but was now travelling in OPP area. They then subsequently received a call of a single vehicle crash that had just occurred on Essex County Road 11 in Essex.

Police arrived to discover a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle in the south ditch facing westbound with extensive front end and roof damage. They say it appeared that the vehicle had been travelling eastbound on Essex County Road 11, entered the south ditch and flipped over several times, coming to rest facing westbound.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle exhibited signs of impairment. She was arrested and taken to an area hospital for treatment for minor injuries. No one else was injured in the crash.

Gabrielle Summerfield, age 54 of Tecumseh, was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and exceed 80 milligrams blood alcohol content. She will appear in a Windsor court on July 30th, 2015 to answer to the charges.
