A 31-year-old Windsor man has been arrested and charged following an abduction in Amherstburg involving a 12-year-old girl.

Amherstburg Police say that the man had been communicating with the girl since January in person and over text messages. On several occasions, the girl would leave school with him, without her parents knowledge.

Around 4am Friday, he was arrested after the girl’s parents reported she went missing. Police stopped him in Amherstburg and arrested him near where the girl was waiting for him to pick her up.

Carson Miles Dickie is charged with luring a person under 16 years of age by means of telecommunication for the purpose of abduction, luring a person under 14 years of age by means of telecommunication for the purpose of inviting sexual touching, invitation to sexual touching by someone under 16 years of age and abduction of a person under 14.

Dickie remains in police custody waiting a bail hearing.
