Two Windsor Police officers are facing charges after an incident last fall.

The Director of the Ontario Special Investigations Unit says there are reasonable grounds to believe two police officers with the Windsor Police Service committed criminal offences in relation to the injury sustained by a 24-year-old man in October of 2014.

The injury occurred around the time of Jonsson’s arrest in the morning hours of Sunday, October 26th, 2014.

As a result of the SIU investigation, WPS Constable Daniel Merlo and Constable Aaron Naklie are each facing Criminal Code of Canada charges.

Merlo is charged with assault with a weapon, and assault causing bodily harm. Naklie is charged with aiding and abetting an assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.
