Young women walked across the LaSalle Strawberry Festival stage Thursday evening with hopes to get a chance to wear the Miss LaSalle crown.

Miss LaSalle 2014 Hailey Trealout has put her crown down and passed the torch to pageant winner Amanda Eak, who had not previously ever participated in a pageant.

“I am very, very overwhelmed … I was doing it just because I needed to do something different, I needed to get out of my comfort zone and this is exactly what I needed so I’m so overwhelmed, I can’t even put it into words,” said Eak. “It was really great, the girls are such great girls and I’ve really gotten to love them and the experience is incredible. It’s something every girl should do for sure, it’s a great experience, I loved it.”

Since being crowned Miss LaSalle 2014, Trealout has made a number of influences in her community, the most influential perhaps being her True Reflections movement which focuses on teaching people to believe in their inner beauty.

“It’s sad but it’s exciting at the same time,” said Trealout. “I’m really excited for Amanda, she did amazing tonight. I was trying really hard not to cry but I know that it’s going to be an amazing adventure for her and giving this opportunity to somebody else is the biggest honor for me.”

While Eak is unsure what her time as Miss LaSalle 2015 will hold, she will strive to better her community and be a role model for young girls across the county.
