A special groundbreaking and tree planting will be held on Friday at the Heritage Gardens in Essex near the Essex Railway Station.

The event is a celebration of the start of a park improvement project for this key property in downtown Essex Centre.

“We plan to transform the Silo District into a beautiful, functional space that can be used for community and civic events,” says Doug Sweet, Director of Community Services.

Funding for the project was made possible through a $25,000 grant received from CN Rail through its CN EcoConnexions – From the Ground Up program. Communities in Bloom and Tree Canada are additional partners.

“The grant funding from CN will help us to create a park-like environment using native trees and plants,” says Sweet. “The landscape improvements are part of a larger project to transform the Silo District into an attractive public space and central focal point in the downtown core of Essex Centre.”

Everyone is welcome to attend this public event that starts at 11am.
