Police are sending out a reminder to drivers that when mounting items to their vehicles rooftops, make sure they are properly and securely fastened. The warning comes after an accident on the 401 this past weekend.

OPP say that around 1pm Saturday a tractor trailer struck a bicycle that was on Highway 401 westbound near Duart Road.

Police say that the bicycle, which was mounted to the roof of a car, fell from the car and was subsequently struck by a tractor trailer.

As a result, the bicycle was demolished, and the tractor trailer sustained minor damages.

The driver of the Pontiac, a 28-year-old woman from Harriston has been charged for having an insecure load.
