A Tecumseh woman has been charged for driving over twice the speed limit

Police say that on March 31st, an officer was patrolling Highway 401 near Harwich Road just after 11:30am when he observed an eastbound Mercedes car exceeding the posted speed limit of 100 km/hr.

The officer determined that the car was traveling at a speed of approximately 220 km/hr, and made a traffic stop.

The 47-year-old female driver has been charged with racing. Her driver’s licence has been suspended and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days.
