Ford City Neighbourhood Renewal has launched a unique project to see what people want to see open in vacant store fronts.

They have placed stickers that say placed stickers that say “I Wish This Was” on vacant storefronts and in one vacant lot. The idea is that people who lives in the area you fill them out.

Lead organizer T.J. Auer hopes to see many people out to express what they wish to see in Ford City. “People living in and visiting the neighbourhood will be given the opportunity to share what they want to see in the business corridor of Ford City. Feedback from the stickers will help inform the Ford City Business Improvement Association’s business outreach”.

Information gathered will be be used by the Ford City Business Improvement Association to attract businesses and let landlords know what the community desires to see in their space.

After the first day of the campaign more stickers were posted to accommodate the overwhelming response. “People rarely get an opportunity to identify what they want to see in their community and what businesses they would visit, so we are very excited to create that opportunity in Ford City,” said Auer.

All the sites are in the 1000 block of Drouillard, and the sites will be active through May.
