Officers with the Canada Border Services Agency seized several guns at both the Ambassador Bridge and Detroit-Windsor Tunnel recently.

In the month of March, three prohibited handguns were seized at the Ambassador Bridge during secondary examinations.

On March 26th, a Michigan man was arrested and charged when an examination of his vehicle resulted in the discovery of an undeclared pistol next to the driver’s seat. The individual received a penalty of $2,660 and was charged under the Customs Act with failure to report, false statements and possession of unlawfully imported goods.

On March 12th, an Alabama man was arrested and charged when an undeclared loaded firearm was located under the driver’s seat of his vehicle. The individual received a penalty of $1,000 and was charged under the Customs Act with false statements, possession of unlawfully imported goods and smuggling.

On March 4th, two Colorado residents were discovered to have an undeclared firearm under the front passenger seat with two 19‑round magazines. They were arrested and charged under the Customs Act with non-report of a firearm and importation of prohibited goods. Windsor Police attended and laid additional charges.

On March 27th at the Windsor Tunnel, officers discovered two undeclared, restricted, fully loaded handguns during a secondary examination. One gun was located in the glove box and the other under the driver’s seat. The Michigan resident received a penalty of $2,500 for the return of the vehicle.
