A team of second-year students from the Faculty of Law at the University of Windsor have earned top honours at the Niagara International Moot Competition held recently in Washington, D.C.

The annual competition, which draws teams from law schools from across the United States and Canada, addresses hypothetical disputes affecting the bi-lateral relationship before the International Court of Justice.

The UWindsor team, coached by Professor Maureen Irish, won first place for their position on this year’s problem, which dealt with immigration, human rights and Great Lakes environmental law.

“We are all very proud of the achievements of our Windsor Law students in this competition. Not only did they win, but they had an excellent learning experience,” says Law Dean Camille Cameron of the achievements of team members Kyle Kuepfer, Christopher Macaulay, Josh Marcus, and Kevin Wisnicki.

“They also learned some valuable and transferable skills, including teamwork, time management, thinking on one’s feet, and persuasive written and oral advocacy. The winning outcome demonstrates what can be achieved with excellent faculty supervision and smart and dedicated students.”
