Hello time traveller!!

The information listed below is likely outdated and has been preserved for archival purposes.

Windsor police have issued a warning about fake emails claiming to be from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

In the email they claim that you have a refund and to follow the link to a fraudulent website where they ask for personal information. They are also calling people and claiming to be from the CRA and asking for personal and financial information.

Police stress to also be aware that they can mask a phone number to make it look like they are calling from an official phone number. Always try to verify by making the call yourself.

Police say that their Fraud Unit is receiving numerous complaints about people receiving this type of email.

The CRA only contacts the public through written correspondence through the mail.

If you are suspicious of anything or anyone call the taxation office at 1-800-267-6999 for more information.
