A drunk driver called police to report himself on St. Patrick’s Day evening, police say.

OPP received a call around 10pm from a driver who told a dispatcher he was too drunk to drive his vehicle. The man allegedly told police he had pulled over onto the shoulder of Highway 3 and that he would leave his 4-way flashers on.

OPP Constable Kevin O’Neil says officers located the vehicle a short time later and discovered the driver still on the phone with OPP dispatch. He said the man had open liquor in his vehicle.

Donald Dummer, 55, from Essex was charged with impaired care and control of a motor vehicle contrary to the criminal code of Canada.
