OPP officers in Kingsville successfully arrested a man they say left the scene of an accident and who was driving drunk.

On Saturday March 21st around 6:30pm, officers in Kingsville received a call regarding a hit and run crash on Essex County Road 31 at Road 5. Police say one vehicle had rear-ended another vehicle and left the scene at a high rate of speed.

A short time later, an OPP officer located the vehicle and driver not far from the crash scene. Police allege the driver exhibited obvious signs of impairment.

Police arrested 61-year-old Jacob Dyck and charged him with flight while being pursued by peace officer, failure to stop at scene of an accident, driving while disqualified, impaired operation of a motor vehicle, and exceeding 80 milligrams of blood alcohol content.

No one was injured in the crash.
