The City of Windsor has mailed the 2015 Interim property tax bills. Consistent with prior years, the interim bill is for exactly 50% of the 2014 taxes paid.

The city says that most property owners will see a line item in their tax bill titled “2015 Interim Tax Cap Adjustment”.  This is meant to adjust the interim taxes to the noted 50% of the 2014 total taxes paid.

Any changes resulting from an updated assessment valuation as provided by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation, from the Final 2015 Municipal Tax Rates, which are expected to be approved in April, or from the Education Levy, which the province has not yet finalized those rates, will be reflected in the Final Tax Bill that will be mailed out in June.

Overall, they say the total municipal property tax levy for 2015 remains unchanged from the 2014 level.

The city also says that failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt property owners from paying their taxes. Penalties and interest, which can be up to 15% of the taxes on an annual basis, will be added for late payment.
