Police are investigating after a rollover accident involving an OPP cruiser.

On Monday, just after 9pm, a Chatham-Kent OPP officer was driving on Park Avenue when he noticed a vehicle approaching him at a high rate of speed and enter his lane.

The officer followed the vehicle in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle turned westbound onto Pioneer Line and the officer followed. Moments later, the officer’s police vehicle left the roadway, rolled over several times and came to rest in a nearby field. The vehicle in question continued westbound on Pioneer Line.

The officer suffered minor injuries. He was transported to hospital and released.

Chatham-Kent Police are conducting an investigation and would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision.
