Police have arrested a man who allegedly broke into cars in a Downtown Windsor apartment building parking garage.

Police were called early Monday to the 100 block of Park Avenue for a reported theft in progress. Officers spoke to a security guard who stated that he heard the sound of smashing glass on the third floor of the parking garage while performing a regular patrol.

Officers went to the side of the building and saw a man exiting the door and placed him under arrest.

Police say a search of the male allegedly revealed a number of stolen items. Officers also located a number of vehicles in the garage with smashed side windows.

Joseph Hanlon, 25, is charged with theft under $5000, 4 counts of mischief, possession of stolen property, break and enter, possession of break and enter tools and breach of probation.
