Police have arrested a man after Dirty Jerseys Sports Grill was broken into.

Around 5:30am this morning, police were called for a commercial alarm at the restaurant and saw a man walking away from the scene with a backpack.

When officers approached the male, he began running toward a nearby vehicle yelling “wait for me, wait for me.” The vehicle sped away and the officers engaged in a foot chase.

Police say the man ran into a low-hanging tree branch which snapped his head back and slowed him down. He continued running but officers were able to apprehend him after a brief struggle.

Investigation revealed that the people responsible broke in by smashing a glass door and left with an undisclosed amount of cash after breaking into gaming machines.

A 43 year old male from Leamington is charged with Break and Enter, Possess Tools for Break and Enter, and Resist Arrest.
