OPP are asking drivers to play it safe on the roads this Wednesday after two women had to be rescued from a weather related crash.

OPP officers have been busy responding to numerous crashes around Essex County thanks to slick, snowy roads.

In one case, a 37-year-old Chatham woman was travelling westbound on County Road 42 near Elmstead Road in Lakeshore where she lost control and collided with a tree.

The driver and her passenger were trapped and had to be cut out from the car using the jaws of life.

Both women were transported to area hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

OPP Inspector Glenn Miller says the public should be adjusting their driving habits for the current road conditions.
