A 66-year-old man has died after an accident in a parking lot Thursday evening.

OPP say that around 5pm a vehicle was leaving the Sobeys parking lot on Amy Croft Drive when the driver accelerated at a high rate of speed, striking three vehicles in the parking lot before coming to a stop at Boston Pizza.

The driver was helped out of his vehicle, was conscious and only appeared to be only shaken up, according to OPP.

He was transported to hospital where he died approximately half an hour later.

The driver was a 66-year-old male and was the only occupant in the vehicle.

The investigation is continuing, but police say that it appears that the driver possibly died as a result of a medical condition.

Damage to one of the parked cars was extensive.

There was minor damage to the other two vehicles and the building.
