Police arrested a man shortly after he allegedly robbed another man while walking along Wyandotte.

Around 6am Tuesday morning, Windsor Police were dispatched to the 900 block of Wyandotte Street West for a report of a robbery that just occurred.

Officers spoke to the victim and learned that he was approached by a male suspect in the area of Janette Avenue and Wyandotte Street West.

Police say the suspect began walking with the victim west on Wyandotte Street, trying to engage in conversation and asked for a cigarette.

When they reached the overpass east of Crawford, police say the suspect told the victim that he had a knife and told him to put down his backpack and leave. The victim complied and later called the police.

The victim provided a description and officers located the suspect a short distance away. After a brief foot pursuit the suspect was arrested without further incident and officers returned the backpack to the victim.

A 26 year old male from Windsor is charged with robbery.
