Forgotten Harvest Canada is celebrating a major milestone having now rescued 2 million pounds of food and delivered it to food agencies in Windsor-Essex.
The rescued surplus, consisting of prepared and perishable food is donated to emergency food providers. Fresh food is collected from Essex County farmers and greenhouse growers, food manufacturers, restaurants and caterers. Facilities that benefit from Forgotten Harvest include churches, shelters, and elementary and high schools.
“We would like to thank our community leaders, agencies and partners for helping us reach this significant milestone in just 3 short years,” says organizer Michele Legere.
