Windsor Police have laid charges after a cyclist was struck and the driver took off back on October 26th in the 700 block of Pelissier Street.

The 31-year-old cyclist was transported to hospital by ambulance suffering from skull fractures.

Police say that they received suspect information from witnesses at the scene and also gathered video evidence from various locations. A photo of the vehicle as well as the person suspected of driving the vehicle were released to the media.

With assistance from the public, the suspect was identified. Investigators learned that the suspect had a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee associated to him. The information was shared with police agencies throughout the province.

On November 27th, Toronto Police arrested the suspect and seized the suspect vehicle, a grey 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The suspect and vehicle were transported back to Windsor. The vehicle was sealed and stored at Windsor Police headquarters pending the application and execution of a search warrant.

On December 18th, the vehicle was searched at police headquarters under the authority of a Criminal Code Warrant. Police have discovered and documented evidence in relation to recent repairs to the front right corner of the vehicle. The repairs are consistent with the vehicle being involved in an accident.

Mithona Koy 27 years of age of Windsor is charged with failure to stop at scene of accident involving bodily harm.

Koy will appear in court January 7th, 2015 in relation to the allegation.
