A 22-year-old male is recovering from a stab wound and facing a charge of breaking and entering after an incident Tuesday night.

Police say it was around 9pm when they were called for a break and enter at a residence in the 2600 block of Meldrum Road.

Three occupants were downstairs when they heard a loud bang noise from the rear door. One of the occupants grabbed a knife as two of four suspects came down the back stairwell. An altercation took place and the occupant with the knife stabbed one of the suspects in the abdomen. All four suspects fled the area.

Police advised dispatch to alert hospitals regarding the incident. At approximately 9:10pm police received a call from Windsor Regional Hospital Metropolitan Campus regarding a male who had just attended the Emergency suffering from a stab wound to his abdomen.

Police have arrested the 30-year-old occupant and have charged him with assault with a weapon. The 22-year-old break and enter suspect was arrested at hospital for break and enter.

Injuries to the break and enter suspect are considered non life threatening. He suffered a lacerated liver and remains in hospital under observation.
