The Rotary Club of Windsor-St. Clair has named the Rotarian of the Year the 2013/2014 Rotary Year.
“Last year was a year of revitalization for our club,” said Past President Vicki Houston. “We revamped our largest fundraiser, the Rotary Auction on TV Cogeco, and introduced the South Coast Adventure race in partnership with ERCA. We also strived to improve our public relations and social media usage. Most importantly, we continued the many service projects we undertake for the benefit of our local and worldwide communities.”
Houston took the opportunity to recognize Ellie Brewster as ‘Rotarian of the Year’, which is a longstanding club tradition. “Ellie was and continues to be an outstanding supporter of our club,” Houston said. “She is always there when needed, and supports all committees – even those she is not a member of. Ellie seeks and finds new and fun things for the club members to do, and is in charge of our speakers’ program. She just takes things on without even being asked and then gets it done with a cheerful and upbeat attitude. She is truly a great Rotarian who personifies the motto ‘service above self’!” Brewster, a registered nurse by vocation, has been a member of the club since moving to the Windsor area in 2012. Previously, she was a Rotarian in Goderich.
