A damaged Nissan sits in the middle of Walker Road

Freezing rain and roads coated in ice caused several accidents early Saturday morning.

The icy rain ended overnight but roads were still slippery first thing in the morning until the temperature rose around 9am.

City of Windsor salt crews managed to make main roads less slick but side streets were still coated with slush around noon.

Emergency crews were called to EC Row at Dougall just after 7am for a crash. Minutes later a second crashed happened in the same area.

Within two hours police had responded to two more crashes, a hit and run in the 400 block of Cameron and a crash in the 600 block of Hildegarde.

In Leamington, two cars were taken away by a wrecker after crashing at Talbot Road East and Mersea Road 12.

Emergency crews were also called to three more crashes just before noon in Windsor, one in the 200 block of Tecumseh Road East, one at Howard and Memorial and a three vehicle crash at Walker and Ottawa.

No life-threatening injuries are reported in any of the accidents.
