One person is under arrest after he was caught shoplifting fragrances and then was hit by a car trying to escape custody.

Police say the suspect was arrested by a Loss Prevention Officer when he exited the Shoppers Drug Mart at Howard and Tecumseh on Thursday around 6pm.

The suspect broke free and fled across the parking lot on foot.  He  attempted to run across Howard Avenue where he was stuck by a passing vehicle.

The suspect was then apprehended by the Loss Prevention Officer again.

Police arrived and spoke to the Loss Prevention Officer and were satisfied with the grounds for the arrest. The suspect was taken to the hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. The vehicle sustained minor damage.

Angus Leblanc, aged 43 from Windsor is charged with theft under $5,000 and escape lawful custody.
