Amherstburg Police are investigating an increase of break and enters during daylight hours that have taken place at various locations within the town recently.

Police say information they’ve received suggests that the suspects may be two males of Eastern European descent. They are known to drive around neighbourhoods in a newer model vehicle while looking for opportunities to break into homes.

Police say the suspects come during daylight hours and look for open front or garage doors. In some cases, the victims may be in the yard doing yard work while the suspects break in, or the victims may have just left home. In another case, police say suspects may approach the house with pamphlets.

Senior Constable Shawn McCurdy urges residents to report suspicious activity including vehicles driving up and down the street several times, occupied vehicles parked on the road for extended periods of time, people going door to door with pamphlets or suspicious people walking up and down the street or standing in one location for a long time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Amherstburg Police Service at 519-736-3622 or Windsor/Essex Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477.
