Police in Amherstburg and Windsor arrested five people, recovered what they say was a substantial quantity of drugs and laid a total of 18 charges.

“As result of the searches a substantial quantity of drugs and Canadian cash was seized with a total street value of approximately $2500,” says Amherstburg Police Constable Shawn McCurdy.

23-year-old Darryl Byrd of Windsor was charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, two counts of possession of a Schedule II Substance for the purpose of trafficking cannabis marijuana, two counts of possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking percocet, one count of possession of a Schedule I Substance oxycodone and one count of possession of a Schedule II Substance cannabis marihuana.

Two other men and two other women face Controlled Drugs and Substances Act charges. Police haven’t released their names.
