Lakeshore OPP say a 3-foot-long snake escaped and is on the loose.

Police say the owner was in the process of moving the snake, a python, around 4:30pm Sunday when it slithered away.

It was last seen in the area of 1st Avenue near Broadway in Belle River.

After an extensive search the owner was unable to locate it.

Police stress that this snake is non-venomous and it is not known to be aggressive towards humans.

Should you locate or see the snake you’re asked to contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122.
