Windsor Police arrested a man after he sprayed a marked police cruiser with mustard in full view of officers.

Officers were patrolling and monitoring the downtown crowd just after 2am on Sunday when a taxicab travelling south on Ouellette slowly passed the police cruiser.

Police say a man seated in the rear of the cab, while holding a yellow mustard container, sprayed the police vehicle with mustard on the drivers door and hood.

There was heavy traffic on Ouellette at the time and the cab had to stop.

Officers went out on foot, caught up with the cab, and arrested the man.

Police say the the mustard container was stolen from a nearby hotdog vendor.

The 25-year-old Belle River man was charged with mischief and theft.
