Severe Storms Likely This Afternoon

If you’re planning an outdoor activity this afternoon, both Environment Canada and the National Weather Service in Michigan area warning of the liklihood of severe storms through the late evening.

Environment Canada is calling for showers with a few thunderstorms beginning late this afternoon then showers with thunderstorms this evening.

The National Weather Service in Detroit says the strongest storms will occur in Michigan, and likely in Southwestern Ontario, between 3pm and 9pm due to an approaching cold front. The main threat according to the NWS will be damaging winds greater than 100km/h.

They say hail greater than 1 inch is possible.

Some storms may also produce torrential downpours and localized flooding according to the NWS.
