A 33-year-old Leamington man is in custody after he shot another male in the face and body several times with a pellet gun in the town Friday.

OPP say that the incident occurred in the 100 block of Talbot Street East in Leamington just after 12:30pm.

Officers searched the area and found the suspect at a residence on Princess Street in Leamington, where he was arrested and taken into custody. The pellet gun was also located at that residence and seized.

Police say that the victim and suspect were known to each other.  The victim was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No one else was injured in the incident.

Brandon Gibbs, age 33 of Leamington was arrested and taken for a bail hearing. He has been charged with the following aggravated assault, firearm-Use while committing offence, carrying concealed weapon, discharge firearm with intent to wound, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm and two counts of disobeying a court order.

Essex County OPP officers, the Essex County Emergency Response team, the Essex County K-9 unit; as well as the Essex County OPP Crime Unit were involved in the search. Area schools were put on hold and secure as a precaution.
