Police are looking for the public’s help after a man in a white van allegedly approached a young person in Tecumseh on Saturday.

OPP say the man approached a youth riding his bicycle in the area of Brighton Road and Tecumseh on Saturday around 5pm.

The man is described as being approximately 5 foot 9 inches tall, medium build with lighter brown skin and East Indian descent and accent. They say he had a round face with narrow features and a boxy type Marine haircut which was shaved on the sides and longer and squared off on top. He was wearing a dark short sleeve t-shirt and possibly blue jogging pants.

The van is described as a white, full size GMC van with windows on the sides and in the rear, according to police. They say there were side doors behind the drivers’ door as well as in the rear of the van, there were no markings on the van, and there appeared to be a rack inside the van which housed tools.

The OPP would like to speak to the man and anyone with information regarding either the man or vehicle is asked to contact the Essex County OPP Crime Unit, Detective Constable Christian Cortese at 519-723-2491.

Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2000.
