The Staples store as seen on Google Street View

A man has died after the car he was driving struck a Staples store in Chatham.

Around 5:30am this morning, emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision behind Thames Lea Plaza on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.

Police say a man driving a Ford Focus collided with the Staples store building.

He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police say his name will not be released at the request of the family.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Chatham Police Constable Mike Pearce at 519-355-1092.
