Devonshire Mall has brought home a national award for excellence in marketing.
The mall won a Maple Leaf Silver Award at the 2014 Canadian Shopping Centre Global Awards earlier this week for its “Mobile Engagement with Loodo” campaign.
“A stroll through any mall reveals obvious similarities—most shoppers are female, and under 30 years old. More recently, one other statistic has become commonplace; many shoppers are engaged with a mobile device,” said mall officials. “At Devonshire Mall, customers exhibit the same tendencies, and we identified the opportunity to capitalise on our customers’ penchant for mobile activity.”
In August 2013 the mall brought free WiFi to common areas inside the complex and strategized with local marketing agency HCA Mindbox to create two customized mobile game experiences called d-Sweeps and Hot Spot Hook Up.
The award recognized the work of marketing director Karen Niforos, assistant marketing director Tina Asprakis, general manager Chris Savard, regional marketing director Joanne Ross and HCA Mindbox’s president Paul Charbonneau.
“I believe this award represents an opportunity for Devonshire Mall shoppers to take part in our next round of Loodo which gives players a fun, easy way to play and win prizes using the latest in technology and engaging customers using their mobile devices,” said marketing director Karen Niforos. “Our customers expect Devonshire Mall to be leaders in marketing and excellence in the shopping centre industry and we are always working toward building on current trends and innovation.”
“Winning this award is an honour as Devonshire Mall is recognized on a national level.”
