They City of Windsor is already planning ahead for next summer.

Each year, the City of Windsor hires students to work at its aquatic facilities during the busy summer months. To be eligible to apply for these rewarding positions, you must first obtain and pass the necessary training and certifications. The City’s Recreation and Culture department offers a full selection of preparatory courses throughout the year.

If you think you’ve got what it takes, a full range of courses, from basic training for the Bronze Star all the way to Advanced Instructor can be found in the latest Activity Guide or at www.reconnectwindsor.ca.

If you’re interested in joining the team in 2015, they city says that you will need to start your training now.

They note that while not all qualified applicants are guaranteed employment, completing the prerequisite training ensures that you meet the requirements to apply and be considered in the next hiring cycle. Annual recruitment for lifeguard positions begins in December, and applications are accepted until February.

In order to be ready for June of 2015, interested applicants who haven’t completed the required courses yet should plan to take the Bronze Medallion course in September, followed by the Bronze Cross course in January and the National Lifeguard Service (NLS) and LifeSaving Society Instructors courses in the spring. Stay tuned for the start of the application period, which is scheduled to begin in December.

To learn about requirements, course offerings and more, visit our Lifeguards and Leadership page or www.reconnectwindsor.ca, or call 519-974-AQUA (2782).
