Strawberry Fest Likely Moving To Vollmer Complex

The Strawberry Festival’s current home on Front Road

LaSalle town administration is recommending that the Strawberry Festival move to the Vollmer and Culture Recreation Complex in June 2015.

One of the main reasons stated in a report to town council is that the current site is landlocked, and opportunity is limited for new events to be to introduce to the festival.

The report says the Vollmer Complex presents opportunities to bring in additional events that will increase and address audience development.

LaSalle’s police and fire departments are also in favor of the move to the new location, saying the site is easier to manage.  In addition, since the Vollmer Complex is in a more open area, there would be less of an impact on neighbors, according to the report.  The current Front Road site clogs area streets with traffic and parked cars.

The report also notes that moving to the Vollmer Complex will have some additional new costs such as a need to rent more fencing, more lights and a roof for the stage will need to be rented or constructed.

The report goes to town council for a decision on August 26th.
