The Ontario Ministry of Transportation is planning a multi-year reconstruction project of Highway 401 from Victoria Road to 5 km west of Kent Bridge Road, and from 5 km east of Bloomfield Road to Essex Rd 42, in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and County of Essex.

Construction is expected to take three years and will include pavement reconstruction, drainage improvements, replacement or rehabilitation of bridges and culverts, and will also include any environmental protection and mitigation where required.

A public meeting is planned for late this year where detailed plans will be presented as well as the proposed construction staging and traffic management strategy.

Work could start as early as next year.

For more information, visit the project website here.
