Police in Chatham-Kent are investigating a home invasion.

Police say that around 2am Sunday morning, a lone male party entered a home through a side door on Elgin Street in Wallaceburg.

The suspect was confronted by the occupant of the home and after a very brief conversation the suspect tried to make off with the victim’s wallet.

The suspect then produced a knife when the victim tried to prevent the theft and then left the residence with the wallet. Police were contacted and arrested the suspect a short distance away.

The now accused is a 30-year-old male from Wallaceburg. He has been charged with break and enter and commit theft, robbery with theft as well as a dangerous weapons charge.

He is being held for bail.
